by | Sep 1, 2020

3 new measures on the Post Graduation Work Permit eligibility for students who need or want to start their Canadian study program online from abroad to provide more flexibility on eligibility rules.

To be eligible for these measures, students need to have submitted a study permit application with a start program date between May and September 2020

Students overseas can study online programs until April 30, 2021 with no time deducted from the length of their PGWP with the only condition to complete 50% of their studies in Canada

Students who enrolled for an 8-12-month program with a start date between May to September 2020 are going to be able to complete their entire program abroad and still be eligible for a PGWP.

Students who registered in a program with a start date between May and September 2020, student who study online up to April 30, 2021, and students who graduate from more than one eligible program/schools may be able to combine the length of their programs when they apply for a PGWP, as long as 50% of the studies are completed in Canada.
